During the wound healing, undamaged and healthy cells proliferate, amplify in cell numbers, migration, invade and move into the wound beds, and seal the wounds. After cell differentiation, remodeling and stratification, cells form normal tissues and repair the wounds.
The complex cellular behavior and activities rely on highly regulated gene expression, protein biosynthesis, correct protein folding, protein modification, signal transduction, information integration and filtering, and cell-microenvironment and cell-cell communications.
